This week you should narrow down the topics/general areas you might want to focus on for your Geographical Issues essay. We will discuss the proposal document for your Issues at your next tutorial.
You may want to use the following to inspire you:
shared examples (on Google Classroom)
Geography news websites such as Geographical, Internet Geography and RGS.
The science/environment/geography sections of general news websites or publications such as BBC News, the Independent or the Telegraph.
This week we'll cover the first of our inferential statistical techniques. Pearson's Product is the most powerful test we learn and is useful when trying to determine if there's a relationship between two sets of data.
It's might seem daunting, but if you follow each step you'll be able to get a correct result. Most successful Geographical Studies use an inferential statistical technique such as Pearson's Product.
This week we'll spend some time (indoors - it's December!) learning about how to design interviews and questionnaires. We'll cover:
When an interview or questionnaire is most appropriate
Structured, semi-structured and informal interviews
Closed and open questions
Quantitative and qualitative date
How to structure both interviews and questionnaires to encourage helpful responses
We'll use resources from the Open University and the RGS to support our learning.
