Your Geographical Issue is a critical essay summarising and critiquing viewpoints on a current geographical issue. In order to prepare for this, we will work through a series of sources over the course of the year including web articles, journal articles, podcasts, videos and blog posts.
These will also expand your geographical understanding from the Higher course content.
For this week, you will be reading an article titled "Mapping the World's Glaciers."
In order to develop your skills of summarising and critical analysis, you should use a Geographical Reading sheet (linked on docs) to structure your work.
If you need a hand with the reference, use this Open University guide.
Over the course of the year, you'll work your way through different techniques to present, describe and interpret geographical data. These skills will be used in your Geography Study and will also be questioned in the AH Geography exam.
The materials to learn about these are online and consist of a description of the technique, a challenge question, a worked example and an activity to complete. Tutorial time will be used to go through the activity and check you have done it correctly.
For this week, please complete the work on Systems Diagrams and Bipolar Analysis which can be accessed here.
